Charles P. Thompson

Charles P. Thompson is a community advisor having recently retired after 30 years of service to Arizona's largest electric utility, APS.  Prior to APS, Charlie served as Congressman Bob Stump's Chief of Staff for three years in Washington, DC and various positions at the Arizona State Senate (Senate Research Staff Coordinator) for five years.  Charlie Thompson received a Bachelor of Arts degree with Academic Honors from Texas Christian University in 1971 and a Masters of Public Administration from Arizona State University in 1975.  Charlie has served twice as President of the Board of Director's of The Industrial Development Authority of the County of Maricopa and as President, Chairman and Co-Chairman of over 25 Community, State, Regional and National Organizations.  He currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Phoenix Affiliate and the Advisory Board of the Northern Arizona University's Rural Policy Institute.  Charlie has received numerous national and local awards for community service.  Charlie is married to the former Kay Jarnagin for 36 years and they have two sons, Woody Thompson who is the principal in the Phoenix law firm of Thompson and Volquardsen and Scott who is the Manager of Group Sales for Resort Quest in Telluride, Colorado.  They are also the proud grandparents of three grandsons.
