Although the Authority may serve any part of the State, the Authority's primary area of service is Maricopa County.  In addition to Maricopa County, the Authority has financial projects throughout the State.  The red shading on the map indicates all of the counties where the Authority has financed projects.  The Authority's past programs have orginated housing projects in every county, although in 1999, Arizona law changed, and now the Authority must receive approval from the Director of the Arizona Department of Commerce to serve any counties other than Pima or Maricopa.  Commercial projects have been financed in five different counties in the State.
